2012 began on a high note for Christie’s Corporate Collections when a painting by Beatriz Milhazes, from the Reader’s Digest Association, tripled its estimate to achieve $626,500 (£398,454)—making it the top selling lot of the First Open Post-War and Contemporary Art sale this March in New York.
This success is just one example of Christie’s robust results throughout the first six months of 2012. Our half-year figures, delivered in greater detail below, show worldwide sales have increased by 11% by $ (13% by £) over the same period last year—and with total sales of $3.5 billion (£2.2 billion), Christie’s has outpaced our closest competitor by a sizeable margin, reflecting our continued role as the world’s leading art business.
During this exciting time for Christie’s and for corporate collections at large, we look forward to strengthening our existing relationships and creating new partnerships for the remainder of 2012 and beyond.
Best Wishes,
Nick Orchard

2. Interview with with Aline Pujo
How has the view of corporate collections changed over the course of your career?
Fundamentally, I’ve seen a shift from a patronage model—where corporations were most interested in supporting the arts at large and the work of individual artists—to a greater emphasis on education…MORE >
“WE’RE LOOKING TO SPARK A CONVERSATION ABOUT THE FUTURE OF CORPORATE COLLECTIONS, THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THESE GROUPS AND THE INNOVATIVE BEST PRACTICES THAT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE THIS FIELD FORWARD.”
—ALINE PUJO
READ OUR ENTIRE INTERVIEW WITH ALINE PUJO HERE >
Established in 2007, the International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art (IACCCA) is a members-only organization that brings together curators of corporate collections through international events that address the future of these collections in an ever-changing art world. As Chairwoman, Aline Pujo brings a wealth of knowledge gleaned from years of experience in both the professional and academic arenas. With a PhD in collecting practices and extensive curatorial experience at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Ms. Pujo also spent 12 years working as the Curator of the collection of Paris-based Bank Neuflize OBC. We recently sat down with her to learn more about the scope of IACCCA’s mission, discuss the organization’s upcoming summit in Vienna, and hear her unique perspective on the changing landscape of corporate collections.
Most of our readers will be very familiar with the IACCCA, but for those who haven’t had the opportunity to connect with your organization before, what is your central mission and how can corporations become involved with the group?
The IACCCA began in 2007, after several years of planning. We’ve continued to grow, and today we are nearly 40 members strong, with corporations from every corner of the globe. Throughout that time, our core mission has remained consistent: we endeavor to bring together curators of corporate collections from around the world…MORE >
Your annual meeting this year will be held in Vienna on September 20. Tell us more about the event—are there any exciting changes from what has been done in previous years?
Each meeting is different because each conference is hosted by one of our members, so we change locations every year. For 2012, our hosts are the ERSTE Foundation and VIENNAFAIR, and we’re very fortunate to have a number of highlights…MORE >
